Position Summary

The Manufacturing Maintenance / Building Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance activities to support safe, efficient, and reliable manufacturing and facility operations. This role installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains production machinery and building systems using preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance practices to support business objectives.

This position may function as a Maintenance Technician or based on experience, assume Maintenance Lead responsibilities that include coordination of work, vendor oversight, and project leadership.

Key Responsibilities Maintenance Lead Responsibilities (as assigned)

  • Provide daily direction and work prioritization to maintenance technicians.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules, work orders, and project timelines.
  • Order parts, materials, and supplies to support production and facility needs.
  • Identify, vet, negotiate with, and manage external vendors and contractors.
  • Coordinate facility upgrades, equipment repairs, and capital improvements.
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage maintenance projects from start to completion.
  • Schedule and ensure completion of all preventative maintenance (PMs).
  • Maintain documentation for equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and PM records.
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Partner closely with Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) personnel.
  • Train technicians and employees on equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety audits, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), authorized employee training, and equipment master lists.
  • Perform all essential functions of the Maintenance Technician role.

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair production machinery and facility equipment.
  • Respond to emergency and unscheduled equipment repairs during production.
  • Perform scheduled preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Diagnose issues, replace or repair components, test equipment, and make adjustments.
  • Perform regular PMs on machinery, equipment, and facility systems.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and material handling equipment safely.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Build and install equipment, fixtures, and facility improvements.
  • Support maintenance projects and tasks as assigned by Maintenance Leadership.
  • Work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Demonstrate a strong team-oriented mindset and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Participate in classroom and on-the-job training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with exposure to electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair production equipment.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ability to read technical documentation and schematics.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Leadership experience preferred for Maintenance Lead responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 12 hours).
  • Ability to squat, kneel, reach, and use hands for tools and controls.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and focus adjustment.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and hear in an industrial environment.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing and facility environment with moving mechanical parts.
  • Occasional exposure to fumes, dust, or airborne particles.
  • Moderate noise levels typical of a manufacturing operation.
